Keep the Love Going - March With Heart

Last month we raised over $14k for businesses who were left with tens of thousands of dollars in outstanding invoices from now defunct meal delivery service, Munchery. In late January, they  abruptly closed their doors (despite having raised $125M in venture capital), leaving many small businesses here in the Bay Area dealing with the financial (and emotional) strain of lost revenue. Some of the businesses affected by the Munchery closure are vendors for Farmgirl and some we also consider friends. All of them work tirelessly to sustain and grow their companies and as a small business owner myself, I know all too well how even one unpaid invoice can affect your ability to keep the lights on or make payroll.

At the beginning of this month, Munchery filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, divulging that they owe upwards of $6M to vendors and customers. This new development makes financial retribution for these small businesses pretty unlikely. Infuriating, we know! In light of this new development, we’d like to keep the love going and raise as much as we can to help make them whole.

As a bootstrapped company we can’t afford to cut a check for the tens of thousands of dollars owed to these businesses. But what we can’t do alone we may be able to do as a part of a whole. We’ve created this special burlap wrapped bouquet in honor of the companies affected by Munchery’s closure. $15 of the purchase price of this product will go to further assist some of these companies so that they can continue to thrive here in the Bay Area.
