How did Farmgirl Flowers start?

Farmgirl Flowers was born in the San Francisco apartment of founder and CEO Christina Stembel back in 2010. At the time, the concept of “fewer, better” anything was innovative, but especially so in the e-commerce flower space. Frustrated by scrolling through endless (and lackluster, in our opinion) options offered by the giant online florists, Christina developed the first business model for Farmgirl Flowers: one daily arrangement. No sizes, flower type, or color to choose from - just one bouquet designed with the best of the best from Farmgirl’s growers.

And that single bouquet? It became the proverbial seed from which the Farmgirl Flowers we know today would grow. And while we have a few more options now than the one that started it all, our more minimalist model still has the same roots: fewer choices so we can offer, in our opinion, better flowers. The type of flowers that we would want to receive and, if past years are any indication, recipients do, too.

To date, we’ve shipped millions of orders to homes all over the contiguous United States. Our signature burlap-wrapped bouquets, handmade flower arrangements, single variety bouquets, and other goodies (like vases and candies!) to complete your gift have helped our customers celebrate birthdays, promotions, weddings, new babies and so much more.
