Hey there,
We don’t have any particularly grand origin story here at Farmgirl, but it’s one that’s special and authentic to us. Back in 2010, we started with just one daily arrangement that our founder and CEO, Christina, handmade in a second-floor walk-up apartment in San Francisco with foliage that may or may not have been hydrated in a bathtub. And there’s been lots more of those, shall we say, not-so-cinematic moments in the nearly 15 years since we delivered our first bouquet. So many buckets filled (and emptied and scrubbed), so many boxes popped and taped and stacked on trucks, and so many iPhone home buttons rendered dysfunctional by eucalyptus sap covered fingers post extra-long holiday shifts. Say that five times fast.
But while our behind-the-scenes has never really been the type to fill more aesthetic feeds and FYPs, we have spent the past decade and a half celebrating big birthdays, sending “I’m so sorry”s and trying to make the distance between you and the person you love a few thousand miles away feel just a little less far. Because we know that what we do isn’t just about the flowers, it’s about helping you to be there when you can be there yourself.
While we’ve grown a bit since our bay area apartment days, our mission hasn’t changed – and that’s to send the best in box bouquets to you and yours in the lower 48. We work with our farm and fulfillment partners to fill our burlap-wrapped flower arrangements with the best of the best from a network of domestic and international growers (something that still has us saying “pinch us!” every day). And while you’ll almost always find a few of the unusual suspects in our bouquets (we’re looking at you, roses and eucalyptus), we like to take notes from Mother Nature herself and change up our recipes and color palettes from season to season. So depending on the season's best, you'll find an assortment of ranunculus, anemones, spray roses, garden roses, stock, hydrangea, and other farm fresh flowers in your Farmgirl bouquet. From bright oranges, corals, and pinks in the summer to moodier reds and snowy whites come December, our burlap-wrapped bouquets bring a little bit of the outside inside to your vase when you order them throughout the year! And if a burlap-wrapped bouquet isn’t quite what you’re after, we have a fresh variety of pre-designed flower arrangements or D.I.Y. bulk flowers to fit any style or occasion ready to ship to your door.
xx,
Team Farmgirl
