• Market Box Dahlias – Soft Palette is a farm-fresh bouquet of ten Oregon or New Jersey-grown ball dahlias in soft tones like peach, light to medium pink, light to medium purple, amber, orange, and gold.
• Can I choose which dahlia colors I get? No. Each bouquet ships with one or two colors, and we can't take specific color requests. The colors depend on which varieties are ready and looking their best in the field that week. The photo carousel shows most (but not all) of the colors you might get.
• What is a ball dahlia? A ball dahlia is a dahlia with a fully round, double bloom made of tightly curled, tube-shaped petals. They're smaller and neater than the dinner-plate dahlias you've seen on Instagram, but every bit as charming.
• Does this dahlia bouquet come with a vase? No. Market Box Dahlias ship as a bouquet without a vase. If you need one, please choose one above!
• Are dahlias a good choice to send somewhere really hot, like Arizona? Not during a heat wave. Dahlias are more heat-sensitive than most cut flowers. They're picked fresh, precooled, and packed for the overnight trip, but if it's scorching at the delivery address, choose a more heat-hardy bouquet. We also recommend signing up for tracking notifications so you (or your recipient) can get the box inside as soon as it arrives.
• What do these dahlias look like right out of the box? Give them a day or two to look their best. Ball dahlias often arrive with a little bed head. Trim the stems, put them in a vase of fresh water, and leave them somewhere cool for a few hours.
• How do I care for cut dahlias? Even with proper care, cut dahlias typically only last 3-5 days in a vase. Trim the stems at an angle, use cool, fresh water, and change it every day or two. Keep them away from direct sun, heat vents, and the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene gas, which makes flowers fade faster. More tips on our Flower Care page.
