How To Go From Burlap-Wrapped Bouquet To Vase Arrangement (It’s As Easy As 1-2-3!)

Hey there,

Whether you’re a total floral pro or new to the designing game, getting one of our signature burlaps vase (and photo!) ready is as easy as 1-2-3. But as the saying (sort of) goes – the proof is in the pudding, eh – petals! As much as we, too, would love to keep these wrapped in burlap bouquets, well, wrapped, it’s time to unbox your online flower delivery and get it ready for display! So shop for one of your favorite burlap-wrapped bouquets (they’re our best sellers for a reason) and follow this quick box-to-tabletop how to.

Step 1: Unwrap Your Fresh Flower Bouquet

This may seem totally obvious, but you do need to unwrap your Farmgirl bouquet upon arrival. While a lot of heart went into that beautifully burlap-wrapped bouquet (and it is oh-so-so beautiful, we know!), it’s time to remove the burlap and the rest of the packaging to get your floral friends ready for their new home – your vase! And when we say all packaging, we mean all packaging… even the twine that is holding all the flower stems in place. Why? Well, these blooming beauties need some room to, well, bloom! By keeping the twine tied around the arrangement and those flowers bound together, you risk diminishing the arrangement’s bloom or vase life (and we want you to experience as long of a vase life as possible!).

Step 2: Trim Those Stems & Get Hydrating!

Giving your new stems a little trim (at least half an inch!) at a 45-degree angle helps them soak up some much-needed H20 after their journey to your doorstep. So grab some sharp scissors, a kitchen knife, or your favorite gardening shears (we’re obsessed with these Chikamasa Clippers) and chop, chop!

Once you’ve given your stems a good trim, it’s a good idea to remove any extra foliage or leaves that might fall below the water line in your vase. This little step (that might seem tedious) is necessary to help keep the water free of any extra bacteria that might form if those leaves fall into the vase! Once you’ve cleaned up any excess foliage, fill your favorite vase with some fresh, clean water and add in your flower food. We always include a packet of flower food in your online flower delivery shipment, but if you need any extra to support your fresh flowers as the days go on, we love using the Arber Fresh Cut Flower Food to help your arrangement live its best (vase) life!

Step 3: Give It A Zhush

You know when your hairstylist runs their hands through your freshly coiffed ‘do and makes it look ah-mazing? Your flowers need that same type of finishing touch to look their loveliest, so get in there and give each stem a little air. By gently running your fingers through the flowers and separating them a bit (after having been tightly tied together while in transit), you’ll help give the flowers some room to bloom and expand as needed. Pro Tip! To help take this even further, make sure you’re not choosing a vase too small for the arrangement you have – this means you’ll want to be sure that the vase isn’t too narrow or too short as this could prevent the flowers from reaching a full bloom if not enough room. If you feel the vase you have it a wee bit too small and you don’t have another, get creative! Mason jars, drinking glasses, or even a freshly cleaned sauce jar can make perfect vessels for flowers to thrive.

Now that you’re all caught up on the box-to-tabletop vase how to’s, we want to see your flowers on display! Tag us on Instagram and use the hashtag #FGFLove to show us how bloomingly beautiful your Farmgirl Flowers arrangements look upon arrival. Happy blooming!

xx,

Team Farmgirl
