My arrangement is shipping from South America. How will the flowers survive the journey?

Just as we do with our arrangements shipped from our North American fulfillment centers, we take huge strides to ensure your flowers arrive fresh upon delivery.

While the time in transit is a few days when shipping directly from one of our South American farms, we use a hydration pack to ensure flowers stay in perfect condition during travel. Also, receiving flowers directly from the farm reduces the transportation time from the farm to a secondary fulfillment facility - which means the flowers are actually several days fresher than if they were shipped from a North American facility using South American flowers (which is where over 80% of the flowers sold in the US are from). At Farmgirl, our mix is about 50% American grown flowers and 50% imported flowers currently but that percent fluctuates throughout the year.

We are extremely proud of our QA process and are continuously making improvements to it to ensure we are providing the highest quality bouquets possible. Our process starts with sourcing the highest quality flowers, picking them at the optimal time to ensure freshness (and avoid premature blooming), and processing the stems properly prior to making their way into one of the signature Farmgirl bouquets you know, love, and trust.

With all living things, after a few days of travel, your flowers may look a bit tired upon arrival. The water reserves in the stems will be used up by the flowers while in transit, which can make the stems a bit soft or dry, depending on the variety. Upon arrival, give the flowers a quick trim (at least half an inch) and pop them into a clean vase filled with fresh, cool water. After 12-24 hours of hydration, your arrangement will perk right up!
